PS3 European Release……

PS3....While I won’t be getting one of these for a while, well until they release some games I actually want, I still feel the need to write something about it.  While I am not a happy bunny about Sony screwing us Europeans over regarding the removal of the PS1 and PS2 architecture and the extravagantly high price point the machine may prove to be a worth while contender to the market but as it stands at this point in time I do not feel it is.  I would have considered popping out and picking one up tonight if it had full backwards compatibility and if there was more then 1 or 2 games I wanted but I will more then likely wait until the rumored price drop in October.  Anyways I have provided a list of release games, with the fully original titles that are currently ONLY on PS3 highlighted and also a link to the PS1 and PS2 software that is compatible with any problems you may encounter with the individual games.

 Release games list

- Ridge Racer 7
- MotorStorm
- Resistance: Fall of Man
- Virtua Fighter 5 [To be release on 360 within 6 months]
- Formula One Championship Edition
- Oblivion
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Virtua Tennis 3
- Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2007
- Need for Speed: Carbon
- Marvel Ultimate Alliance
- Blazing Angels
- Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom
- Enchanted Arms
- Tony Hawk’s Project 8
- The Godfather: Don’s Edition
- Fight Night Round 3

Xbox 360 HD-DVD Drive….

Xbox 360 HD-DVD DriveI have recently picked up this little number so I could enter the world of HD movie viewing, this is used to test the water so to speak as its relatively cheap for a HD movie player at £130.  I must say I am very impressed with what I have seen, the only problem is there are not many films I want at the moment on both HD formats, HD-DVD and BluRay.  The market for each format is not set in concrete so I am happy I did not spend £400+ just to have an early glimpse of the future of video.  I currently only have three films, these are ‘King Kong’ [which was free with the drive, they also gave me another universal remote], ‘Jarhead’ which looks nice but lacks the action I was expecting from the title and ‘The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift’ which is probably my favourite out of the three even though it still has it fair share of cheesy acting, dialog and story.

Overall I am happy just would like to see a greater number of films, on both format, and for Microsoft to correct the small issue with the lowish dynamic range and pre-amp of the audio track output.

Wii!!!!!

Nintendo WiiAs you may have guessed from the title this post is about the Nintendo Wii.  I have not had it for that long and while I think it is a very sleak console with brilliant funtionality I feel it is let down by its current lack of games that are available.  I have Wario Ware which is a game that makes excellent use of the Wiimote and Zelda: Twilight Princess which follows the same structure that was created many years ago with Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the original Zelda title on the N64.  While Z:TP is a brilliant game, with on slight faults on the sword fighting controls, it does feel Nintendo have stuck too closely to the Z:OOT formula which, I must admit, feels slightly outdated in todays day and age.  I am still holding high hopes for Mario: Galaxies and next installment of the Metroid Prime series.  The Virtual Console works in a similar fashion to the Xbox Live Markerplace and seems to have a lot of support with many games getting released from NES days up to N64 titles.  Most of the high quality Mario and Zelda titles from yesteryear are there which is very impressive.  I would currently rate this 3/5 but this is only due to the lack of brilliant titles.

New PC & Gears of War……

GOW LTD Edition BoxIt has been a while since last posting on here but thats due to lots of work, work, work from my local slave labor camp [ASDA] to my college work. I have got Gears of War, which I must says looks stunning and plays pretty darn well too. Completed it co-op on Insane with a buddy the other day which was fun. I have also built myself a new PC, its another AMD (:D), 4200 X2 64bit on a Asus Crosshair board with 1 Gig of Corsair RAM and a Geforce 7900 GS 256MB.

A bit of Prog House!

If your into the aformentioned tunes then check out the Sander Kleinenberg mix from 16/09/06 on DJ mixes 2k…  I have not really listened to much prog house over the past couple of years but this seems pretty decent again.  Sander was always one of the best ;)….

Wow!

What with work and college I have not had time to do anything. Anyways Tokyo Game Show [TGS] and X06 [Microsoft gaming event] happened within the past two weeks and damn there were a few kool things mentioned. Off the top mf my head the newest Splinter Cell is exclusive to PC and 360, Doom popped up on Xbox Live Arcade [didn’t expect that :O], Banjo & Kazooie, and Assassins Creed looks so good. If you didn’t get to see it, then damn you. Then go here. OH yes and a game called Lost Odyssey looks like it may be good. Wait did I forget PGR4. Guitar Hero 2 looks like it may be quite awesome too. Rock on!!!

You Have Got To See This…

Hostel Cover… but only if you are slightly sadistic. The film in question is Quentin Tarantinos Hostel. This film is so very sick its good, if your into that sort of thing. Not the greatest film in the world in terms of story telling, acting or overall directing although it does have its good moments, but what really grabs you is the actual premise of the story. There is an underlining theme designed to show hatred towards Americans over other any other race. You would see this quite evidently if you see the film as I am not going to mention it here due to the fact it will ruin the main story. Anyway, its worth a watch due to its shock value in what is portrayed, but only if your not squimish. I would give this 3 1/2 out of 5. 5/5 if you REALLY like gore.
